Clean Energy [NASDAQ: CLNE] Visions to Provide RNG at all its U.S. Stations

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. [NASDAQ: CLNE] disclosed that it has decided to commence work on a renewable natural gas (RNG) digester at Del Rio Dairy in Friona, TX, its first in a joint venture with TotalEnergies to create the ultra-clean transportation fuel which will be negative carbon-intensive. All the RNG fuel manufactured at Del Rio Dairy will make its way into Clean Energy’s nationwide network of RNG stations.

When finished, the Del Rio Dairy digester project will catch the waste from more than 7,500 milking cows. It will create an expected 1.1 million gallons of RNG yearly. RNG assists Clean Energy’s customers attain their sustainability goals by significantly cutting their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from transportation operations. Clean Energy has set a target to offer RNG at all its U.S. stations. The company has also set the vision for the carbon intensity (CI) of the fuel to be zero by 2025.

Furthermore, Del Rio is a family-owned and managed dairy with multiple generations of Ginggs involved in running it. The company disclosed that by adding an RNG digester to its operation, it will have the opportunity to say to future generations that it is striving to tackle critical climate issues that influence the world they live in.

In addition, RNG is utilized as a transportation fuel and has to decrease GHG emissions on a lifecycle basis when compared to traditional gasoline and diesel. The California Air Resources Board has provided similar projects a carbon intensity (CI) score of a weighted average of -320 compared to CI scores of 101 for traditional diesel fuel and 15 for electric batteries.
