Who has been awarded by CMCSA?

Comcast (CMCSA) announced today that it has awarded Comcast RISE awards to 14 more small businesses owned by women and people of color in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Comcast Business will provide customized technology upgrades, or Effectv, Comcast Cable’s advertising sales division, will provide consulting, media, and creative production services, depending on the needs of these businesses. There have already been more than 50 Comcast RISE awards awarded in Oregon and SW Washington to small businesses.

As part of Comcast RISE, which stands for “Representation, Investment, Strength and Empowerment,” the company will help small businesses owned by women and people of color who have been hard hit by COVID-19. There is a deadline of October 16, 2022, for applications for the next round of awards.

Other Milestone

During a press conference on Thursday, Comcast Business announced it completed the expansion of its $2 million fiber network to serve the Food Distribution Center in Philadelphia. The Food Distribution Center is located near Packer Avenue in South Philadelphia, adjacent to the Sports Complex. It is mainly occupied by wholesalers and distributors of food.

Small and medium-sized businesses can expect speeds of up to 1.2 gigabits per second (Gbps), while larger enterprises can expect speeds of up to 100 gigabits per second (Gbps). By providing high-speed Ethernet and Internet to 70+ businesses along the commercial corridor, CMCSA will enable restaurant businesses to run efficiently – from inventory tracking to advanced scheduling and more – using high-speed technology.

How CMCSA is making a difference?

The businesses will now have access to a comprehensive portfolio of Comcast Business products and services to help meet the needs of their day-to-day operations, such as connecting multiple locations and sites or connecting offices with third-party data centers. Over 24,000 businesses in the Greater Philadelphia and New Jersey area have benefited from Comcast (CMCSA)’s $102 million network expansion commitment since 2015.
