VEON Ltd. [NASDAQ: VEON] disclosed that the company has appointed Karen Linehan to the VEON Board as a non-executive director. Karen has earlier served as a General Counsel of Sanofi. Karen has spent more than 30 years at Sanofi. She served in different legal roles, including more than a decade as General Counsel, heading the Legal, Ethics, and Business Integrity function.
Karen also enthusiastically advocated diversity, gender balance, and personal growth as one of the first women on Sanofi’s Executive Committee and a key member of the firm’s Gender Balance Board. Her previous professional experience includes working as a lawyer at Townley & Updike in New York and as a member of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives congressional staff.
VEON has welcomed Karen as an independent director to its Board, and it is looking forward to working with her. Karen has a lot of experience and understands the standpoint of the Company. VEON is happy that she will also serve on its Audit & Risk and Nominating & Corporate Governance Committees. Karen’s appointment comes after the resignation of Steve Pusey last year.
Furthermore, Karen graduated has secured her Bachelor of Arts in American Studies degree and a Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University. In Sanofi, she effectively protected the company and its stakeholders from the many issues of the pharmaceutical sector’s quickly changing environment. VEON is expecting that she will serve it with the same passion it did in Sanofi.
