Ryder System [NYSE: R] Announce a Multi-Year Partnership with Gatik

Ryder System, Inc. [NYSE: R] disclosed that it has inked a multi-year partnership agreement with Gatik which is a leader in automating on-road transportation for short-haul, middle-mile logistics. The aim of this partnership is to build an autonomous logistics network for Gatik’s customers in the U.S. and Canada.

Through the vast collaboration, Gatik will lease from Ryder a fleet of medium-duty, multi-temperature box trucks intended for transporting goods to retail locations from micro-fulfillment centers or dark stores. Ryder and Gatik will find opportunities for Ryder to handle the logistics operations of the independent fleet.

Furthermore, this partnership also enables Gatik to work on its unique, end-to-end ADaaS business model and handle long-standing relationships with its customer base. The goal of the collaboration is to grow quickly across the U.S. and Canada, with the primary focus on the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Additionally, Ryder has constantly shown dedication to innovation and serving its customers’ needs. Gatik disclosed that this collaboration allows it to leverage Ryder’s world-class expertise in commercial vehicle servicing and maintenance, and also utilize Ryder’s North American infrastructure to increase its fleet to multiple markets quickly.

Moreover, Gatik will combine its commercial-grade autonomous driving technology into the leased fleet. It will allow Gatik to offer its Autonomous Delivery as a Service (ADaaS) model to its new and current customers. In addition to offering the leased vehicles, Ryder will service and maintain the trucks, including calibration of autonomous vehicle sensors and the necessary pre-and post-trip inspections.
