Navigator Holdings Ltd. [NYSE: NVGS] disclosed that it has inked a seafarer training partnership with Northern Marine Group (Northern Marine) which will prepare RO-PAX ferry officers to run gas-fueled vessels of the future. Northern Marine was contributory in supporting the firm with the world’s first engine conversion allowing the vessel to cut emissions considerably by switching from oil to ethane as fuel.
The Northern Marine officers are undergoing working life onboard Navigator Gas’s 37,500 cbm ethylene capable gas carrier Navigator Aurora to obtain their certification to run LNG-fueled ferry vessels. The Ethylene/LPG Carrier vessel offers an environment where the officers can obtain their 30-day sea time working with a low-flashpoint fuel by shadowing officers onboard.
Furthermore, Northern Marine is striving to deliver its global seafaring workforce the chance to accomplish their career ambitions and get experience across a variety of vessel types should they validate the ability and attitude to do so.
On the other hand, Navigator Holdings Ltd disclosed that it is supporting its long-time partner Northern Marine to improve its competencies in low-emission gas-fueled vessel operations which is consistent perfectly with Navigator’s goal to cut carbon footprint in the maritime industry.
