Russia Withdraw Threats to Block Twitter [NYSE: TWTR]

Russia which has earlier warned the social networking firm Twitter Inc. [NYSE: TWTR] that it will ban the platform has withdrawn the warning. The Russian authorities disclosed that the firm has accelerated the efforts to eliminate content that local watchdogs considered unlawful. The Russian watchdog further revealed that the platform will be slowed down until May 15 to provide the opportunity to Twitter to delete the illegal content.

Twitter’s Negotiation with Russian Watchdogs

Twitter Inc has held a meeting with Russian watchdogs to negotiate with them regarding the threats of banning the platform. Twitter had negotiated with Russian authorities on April 1 through video conference and assured the authorities that it has and will erase the content that supports unlawful activity or pornography at a quicker rate.

Russia’s Threat to Twitter

Earlier, the Russian government has warned TWTR to erase the account of an adversary news outlet in the wake of warnings from Moscow to ban the social network entirely if it did not delete “prohibited content” within a month. The Russian overseers have slowed down the content loading on Twitter and warned the firm that it will completely ban it if it doesn’t comply with the state’s policies.
